The person behind the systems

A builder’s itch.
A curious mind.

I’m Rakshan. I like building useful things, taking systems apart, and finding the assumptions that don’t survive a closer look. Software, AI, and cybersecurity are the threads that keep coming together.

My work lives where software meets security: turning noisy vulnerability scans into clear priorities, building threat-intelligence tools, and setting the boundaries AI agents operate within.

I’m a Senior Security Engineer at Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Bank (U.S.A.) Limited. I build production security software, lead AI security reviews, and turn policy into controls people can actually use.

On my own time, I’m building SealCheck and a multi-agent development harness. Both start with the same curiosity: what does it take to give AI useful capabilities while understanding its boundaries?

Building security platforms and the controls AI systems operate under.

  • Authored the bank’s AI Security Standard across nine control domains, including agent tool permissions, autonomy limits, and human approval requirements.
  • Established the AI Core Committee, lead the security review for every AI tool entering the bank, and manage two engineers.
  • Wrote AI vendor due-diligence requirements and an 11-clause contract bundle covering data handling, monitoring, and auditability.
  • Built VulTrack and ThreatNet; took Microsoft 365 Copilot from a 25-user pilot to an approved bank-wide rollout.
  • Own bank-wide application security and work with IT on AWS guardrails, infrastructure review, and automated misconfiguration detection.
  • Automated reporting across 32 risk categories and access recertifications, and built a versioned 700-control library.

Software EngineerNovember 2021–December 2022

Production data pipelines for cloud infrastructure, disaster recovery, and backup.

  • Built ETL and reporting pipelines with Python, PySpark, Cassandra, and REST APIs for internal analysts and a customer-facing cloud console.
  • Refactored legacy jobs and automated manual data cleaning.

Operations and Expansion Lead2014–2020

An earlier chapter in building and running businesses, before software engineering.

  • Grew the business from two hotels and three restaurants to three hotels and six restaurants, with 350+ employees.
  • Led a 30-room hotel build from land acquisition through opening, alongside finance, HR, vendors, and technology.

02 / Outside the day job.

Building, just because.

Custom gaming rigs, homelabs, and agent orchestration systems. I enjoy choosing the parts, wiring them together, and figuring out why they don’t behave quite as expected.

The bigger questions.

Physics, quantum mechanics, mathematics, and the universe. I love the feeling of an explanation clicking into place—and the questions that appear right after it.

Building something interesting?
I’d love to hear about it.
